http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SYandHDvpd4/SpPwyIpSBfI/AAAAAAAAA0g/EwZBenDA0HA/s400/info.jpg
Qutrub conjugates an arabic verb with minimal input (Vocalized verb, present middle letter mark) in a generic way. It doesn't use classified models of verb conjugation. It detects the verb class and conjugates it in the appropriate form.

Qutrub: Arabic verbs conjugator

Structure and Function of the Arabic Verb

 Structure and Function of the Arabic Verb

Structure and Function of the Arabic Verb

[info.jpg]
Approaches to verbal grammatical categories - the constituents of verbal systems - often rely on either semantic-pragmatic or syntactic analyses. This research bridges the gap between these two distinct approaches through a detailed analysis of Taxis, Aspect, Tense and Modality in Standard Arabic. This is accomplished by showing, firstly, some basic theoretical concerns shared by both schools of thought, and, secondly, the extent to which semantic structures and invariant meanings mirror syntactic representations.

Maher Bahloul’s findings also indicate that the basic constituents of the verbal system in Arabic, namely the Perfect and the Imperfect, are systematically differentiated through their invariant semantic features in a markedness relation.

Finally, this study suggests that the syntactic derivation of verbal and nominal clauses are sensitive to whether or not verbal categories are specified for their feature values, providing therefore a principled explanation to a long-standing debate.

This reader friendly book will appeal to both specialists and students of Arabic linguistics, language and syntax.

Series: Routledge Arabic Linguistics
Hardcover: 368 pages / Publisher: Routledge; 1 edition
Date: January 30, 2008 / Language: English
File Type: True PDF / File Size: 2.68MB

Filling a gap in the literature currently available on the topic, this edited collection is the first examination of the interplay between urbanization, language variation and language change in fifteen major Arab cities.

The Arab world presents very different types and degrees of urbanization, from well established old capital-cities such as Cairo to new emerging capital-cities such as Amman or Nouakchott, these in turn embedded in different types of national construction. It is these urban settings which raise questions concerning the dynamics of homogenization/differentiation and the processes of standardization due to the coexistence of competing linguistic models. Topics investigated include:

* History of settlement
* The linguistic impact of migration
* The emergence of new urban vernaculars
* Dialect convergence and divergence
* Code-switching, youth language and new urban culture
* Arabic in the Diaspora
* Arabic among non-Arab groups.

Containing a broad selection of case studies from across the Arab world and featuring contributions from leading urban sociolinguistics and dialectologists, this book presents a fresh approach to our understanding of the interaction between language, society and space. As such, the book will appeal to the linguist as well as to the social scientist in general.

A Reader in Modern Literary Arabic

al3arabiya info

Review:!
Ziadeh is a very distinguished Arab author who published several books to help people learn Arabic. His book Reader in Modern Literary Arabic is one of the best books for advanced students that I have read during the past 30 years of my teaching Arabic language in North America. The book is a collection of short Arabic texts from the best Arabic literary works, classical and modern. This book is recommended to students who have studied structured standard program in Arabic, not to the casual learner/beginner or intermediate. Teaching / reading this book is a pleasure to students as well as instructors. Actually, I would recommend the reading of this book to Arabic speaking people as well. In general, books on learning advanced Arabic are scares, let alone a good one.

Basic Course in Literary Arabic

al3arabiya info

The material presented in this workbook, which is in preliminary form under revision, has been designed to introduce the basic aspects of the morphology and syntax of literary Arabic. It is intended to be used with and as a continuation of "The Phonology and Script of Literary Arabic," by the same authors. These two volumes, together with a forthcoming second volume on morphology and syntax, will provide a full basic course in elementary literary Arabic on the college and university levels. The present volume begins with the most basic grammatical features of the language--such as sentence structure and sentence analysis--and gradually introduces different features on the basis of continuity and grammatical build-up. Dialogs and oral exercises have been included to provide practice in spoken Arabic.

Learn another language the way you learnt your own

You learnt your own language naturally and enjoyably: now you can learn Arabic in the same way.

You’ll stick with it because you’ll love it

  • Use the unique method perfected over fifty years by the celebrated psychologist and linguist Michel Thomas.
  • This method works with your brain, helping you to build up your Arabic in manageable, enjoyable steps by thinking out the answers for yourself.
  • You learn through listening and speaking – without the pressure of writing or memorising.
  • You pick up the language naturally and unforgettably.

This much-anticipated Vocabulary Course carries forward the Michel Thomas teaching tradition and faithfully follows his unique approach to foreign language learning.

The essential format is the same all-audio, building-block approach. The teacher teaches two students in the recording studio in real time and the student at home becomes the third member of the class. The native-speaker assistant teacher concentrates on helping get the pronunciation of sounds and words which are difficult for English-speakers just right.
Learning vocabulary is notoriously difficult if attempted in the traditional way – with long lists and hours of memorisation. However, with the Michel Thomas Method, new words and phrases are presented in such a way that they cannot be forgotten. They are interwoven with what has gone before so they are imprinted in your knowledge bank for ever.

The vocabulary in the courses is carefully chosen from the relatively small number of ‘power words’ which open up an amazing range of expression and comprehension.

Building and expanding on the language structures taught in the Foundation and Advanced Courses, these new Vocabulary Courses give you all you need to enjoy travelling in the Arabic-speaking world, be it for business or pleasure.
