معجم الجموع في اللغة العربية حصيلة جهد كبير في لملمة ما تشتت من قواعد الجمع، وجمع أوسع تشكيلة من القواعد والشواهد والأمثلة، والآراء والاجتهادات لكبار علماء الصرف من البصرة والكوفة. والجمع في العربية هام جداً لحاجة الطالب والكاتب والباحث والأستاذ إليه، ومع عظيم فائدته فإن الكتب المؤلفة في موضوع الجمع تعد على الأصابع، ولذلك تحتم على الباحثة أن تعود إلى أمهات المراجع النحوية والصرفية لتستوفي بحثها، فاستعانت بكافية ابن الحاجب وشافيته، وهمع السيوطي، وشرح المفصل لابن يعيش، وحاشية الصبان... وممتع ابن عصفور، والنحو الوافي لعباس حسن، ناهيك بقرارات المجامع اللغوية في القاهرة ودمشق وعمان.

وإلى جانب تلك الأمهات النحوية والصرفية قمشت من أمهات المعاجم العربية كلسان العرب، والمصباح المنير، والقاموس المحيط، وتاج العروس، ومتن اللغة... فظفرت بمجموعة من الجموع، سمحت لها بالإكثار من الأمثلة.

وقد بلغ عدد المفردات التي ظفرت بها المؤلفة كأمثلة نموذجية أكثر من ثمانية آلاف اسم، فبسطت القول في كل باب من أبوبا الجموع بكثرة الأمثلة التي يحتاج إليها، ذكرت مثلاً لباب الجمع على أفعال لا غير نحو 63 مثالاً، ولباب الجمع على أفعلة لا غير نحو 78 مثالاً، ولما اشترك فيه بابا الجمع على أفعال وأفعلة جميعاً نحو 6 أمثلة... إلى غير ذلك من الأمثلة الكثيرة المتنوعة، فيصير مجموع المفردات المستعملة كأمثلة نموذجية قريباً من ثمانية آلاف مثال. وقد ضبطت هذه الأمثلة ضبطاً تاماً، وفسرت الغامض منها، وضممت إليها في هوامش هذا المعجم فوائد وتتمات وتنبيهات لا بد منها لإخراج هذا المعجم بصورة عمل متكامل. وينحصر "معجم الجموع" في ثلاثة أبواب هي: 

الباب الأول: تحديد الجمع لغة واصطلاحاً ولقباً وأنواعاً وإعراباً. 

الباب الثاني: أنواع الجموع، وهو من أوسع أبواب المعجم، ويشتمل على خمسة أنواع هي: 

النوع الأول: الجمع السالم. 

النوع الثاني: جمع التكسير. 

النوع الثالث: الجمع بالتاء المربوطة. 

النوع الرابع: اسم الجنس الجمعي. 

النوع الخامس: اسم الجمع بأنواعه الأربعة.

الباب الثالث: أحكام عامة في تصغير الجموع، وفي النسبة إليها، وفي جمعها.
